Voting opens for popular Nantwich Food Awards
12th June 2017

Categories for this year’s Food Awards linked to the prestigious Nantwich Food Festival have been revealed, and online voting is now open. Click here to vote for the 2017 Food Awards.

The awards give the public an opportunity to vote for their favourite local eateries, retailers and producers that champion the diverse range of food offered in Nantwich and the surrounding Cheshire area.

The gala presentation evening that recognises the excellence of local food and drink businesses is now in its seventh year.

Food Festival Director John Coulter always enjoys the awards. He said: “Nantwich is a real gem for food and drink, and the awards recognise the dedication of many people. These excellent businesses are vital for the local economy.

“This year we have amended the categories, but from the incredible feedback we received it was obvious that people enjoyed much of existing formula as well. Now it’s over to the public to pick their favourites.”

The new categories are: Best Newcomer (within the last 24 months), Best Local Producer (within 20 miles), plus an Excellence in Customer Care award.

Old favourites still up for grabs are: Best Restaurant (including hotel restaurant), Best Pub with Food, Best Cafe or Coffee Shop, and Beer Champion.

The much-loved awards recognise the contribution of local businesses that offer an incredibly diverse array of artisan food and drink products to Nantwich customers.

Some of the nominees will have stalls at this year’s Food Festival that takes place in early September, while some will organise events on their premises during the weekend.

Voting is now open for this year’s awards, and the online poll closes on 9th September.

Anyone who votes for the winner in any of the categories will be entered into a draw to win £40 to spend in that establishment.

The awards night is scheduled to take place at Nantwich Civic Hall on Friday 27th October.

Calling all lovely volunteers and people interested in helping us in 2018. On the 22nd March we are holding a friendly, drop-in open evening at the Bowling Green Pub, Monks Green, CW5 5DN from 19:30 onward.

You will be able to talk to other volunteers and find out which roles are available. We need people who can help us all year round and over the Festival weekend; maybe you only have a couple of hours to spare but we still need you. Nibbles and drinks will be available and lots of friendly faces to talk to.

Please come along. We all look forward to meeting you and making new friends. If you have any questions before please email volunteers@nantwichfoodfestival.co.uk and if you think you might be able to come along on the night it would be great if you can comment below. This will give us an idea for catering. With many thanks.

Sunday afternoon saw many of the volunteers and committee members of the Nantwich Food Festival gather together at the Olive Grove conference centre. They revisited the 2017 event and as a team discussed how they could learn from it and make the 2018 show even better for visitors, exhibitors and town centre businesses alike.

Director of the event John Coulter said "It was fantastic to see so many great people join us with some wonderful ideas and support for the Food Festival. There were some fantastic discussions and we can't wait to release details of these as the events are confirmed over the next few months"

Recently the management team was pleased to welcome Councillor Andrew Martin to the committee. Former Mayor Andrew is passionate about Nantwich and sharing the word about everying the town has to offer. "It is great to be part of something that brings the whole community together and attracts over 40,000 visitors to our streets. I am looking forward to seeing how the 2018 event will build upon the great work of previous years"
