Chef Demo Theatre, Town Square, Nantwich CW5 5AS
Zalena guides us through her own recipe Tandoori Chicken, Cucumber & Coriander Raita & Chapatis.
Rose Petals and Rice was born out of the joy of feeding people. Zalena first started cooking by her Mother’s side at 9 years old. Starting with the basics, making a faultless cup of tea was first on the list, followed by learning how to slice onions as thinly as possible– a skill every Indian worth their salt aspires to perfect!!
A love of all things food was born and in particular, a love of cooking the food she grew up eating from the culture she was born into – Parsi. The Parsis originated from Persia and then migrated to Northern India many years ago. Parsi food stays very much true to its original Persian roots but draws heavily on Northern Indian influence, combining middle Eastern and Indian flavours to make beautifully tasting dishes.
Zalena’s mission is to teach us all how to make popular street foods such as batata vada and samosas and to show us the real taste of Indian food. Feeding people is a huge part of Parsi culture and Zalena loves teaching the recipes that her Mum taught her to fellow foodies.
Rose Petals and Rice offers cooking workshops in your own kitchen – she brings the ingredients, masalas and the recipes cards and teaches you step-by-step lessons on how to make the perfect dishes. Once you’ve learned to cook all the food, she disappears like a cooking fairy, leaving you to enjoy a fresh and authentic home cooked meal with your friends. It’s a great way to spend time with a group of friends or your loved ones or a great way to bond with contacts on a corporate networking day.
