Rob McDiarmid and Jon Cox from the Yew Tree, Bunbury cook delicious recipes from their fresh, seasonal menu.
Jon opened The Yew Tree Inn in 2010 with his wife Lindsay – the pub goes from strength to strength and has won recents accolades including Cheshire Pub of the Year in 2012 & 2013, Cheshire Life Pub of the Year in 2014 and The Good Pub Guide’s Cheshire Dining Pub of 2014. Earlier this year the pub was shorltisted for GQ Magazines “Best Pub” and it has just won “Best Freehouse – Northwest Region” in the Great British Pub Awards 2015, an award it won in 2013. Jon loves pubs, craft beer & Italian wine. When he’s not working ideally he’s skiing or watching rugby and is looking forward to his second child’s arrival in October!
Rob joined the team as Head Chef in early 2014, immediately bringing his love of locally sourced, fresh ingredients to the forefront of our menus. Under his leadership the pub has been included in The Good Food Guide and won Cheshire Dining Pub of the Year in the Good Pub Guide. Prior to The Yew Tree he was head chef at The White Horse in Chester Racecourse and was Sous Chef at The Chester Grosvenor hotel. A keen runner, Rob is hoping to complete his first full marathon in October.
