Home comforts at Nantwich Food Festival
22nd July 2017

TV chef and Sunday Times columnist Candice Brown will bring her unique style to this year’s Nantwich Food Festival when she cooks up some home comfort classics with a twist.

The headline chef was the 2016 winner of BBC series The Great British Bake-Off.

A lover of everything vintage, the style icon has developed a huge following that loves her vibrant range of lipsticks and her wickedly infectious laugh.

The Nantwich Food Festival is staged in the heart of the historic town centre, with the cooking theatres easily accessed alongside over 200 food and drink exhibitors from all over the country.

Candice will serve up hearty dishes that she learned to bake with her mum and nan, many of which appear in her new book called Comfort: Delicious Bakes and Family Treats.

She said: “I love to bake and cook old-fashioned comforting food, and talk about what I’m doing and why, where I get my inspiration, my family, my day – about anything really!

“I simply love food, and Nantwich being an old market town and having the food festival set entirely within the centre is everything I love.

“Mainly, I hope to be able to taste and try all the amazing foods and flavours on offer and talk to everyone about what they are doing, making, selling and why.

“I take huge inspiration from experienced foodies and seeking new flavours or combinations to take home and try myself. I am very excited!”

Joining the talented chefs across the packed weekend will be much-loved children’s TV entertainer Katy Ashworth who makes a welcome return with her high-energy show.

Entry to the Nantwich Food Festival marquees and chef demonstrations is free, with a varied programme of events, music and entertainment across the three days.

The Nantwich Food Festival takes place from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 September.

Sunday afternoon saw many of the volunteers and committee members of the Nantwich Food Festival gather together at the Olive Grove conference centre. They revisited the 2017 event and as a team discussed how they could learn from it and make the 2018 show even better for visitors, exhibitors and town centre businesses alike.

Director of the event John Coulter said "It was fantastic to see so many great people join us with some wonderful ideas and support for the Food Festival. There were some fantastic discussions and we can't wait to release details of these as the events are confirmed over the next few months"

Recently the management team was pleased to welcome Councillor Andrew Martin to the committee. Former Mayor Andrew is passionate about Nantwich and sharing the word about everying the town has to offer. "It is great to be part of something that brings the whole community together and attracts over 40,000 visitors to our streets. I am looking forward to seeing how the 2018 event will build upon the great work of previous years"
