Festival Music

This years music stages have been organised and partly sponsored by the “Nantwich Jazz, Blues and Music Festival”
All events, promotions and music are subject to substitution, alteration or cancellation due to circumstances beyond the control of the Festival.

Friday Schedule

Cat Radio Sound Stage, Bowling Green Food Court

12 noon – 2:00pm, Andy Stones

The piano meister plays a musical cocktail of light classical to golden oldies, songs from the shows to popular music all carefully selected from a breathtakingly extensive repertoire taking in everything from Jazz to rock & roll.

12 noon – 2:00pm, Ben Maitland

The front man for popular wedding band Shakemaker and with appearances throughout the North West including the legendary cavern Club . Covering all genre’s of music from the 60s to the present day and leaving nothing uncovered. A fantastic start to the Food Festival music programme.

2:00pm – 4:00pm, Shelley Quarmby & Tom Brookes

Part of the fabulous Blue Cartel, Shelley & Tom play a contemporary music set. Both are excellent musicians and singer/songwriters in their own right across a wide range of genres from Country to Indie so expect some top notch entertainment.

2:00pm – 4:00pm, Sheena McDonagh & Paul Matthews

bring a beautiful blend of style and substance with their carefully chosen soul, blues, jazz and contemporary songs in dulcet tones. With songs from The
Great American Songbook and more they deliver a range of music across many styles.

4:00pm – 6:00pm, The Muckers

Ukeleles to the fore ! Playing a large array of songs from the Kinks to Eric Clapton, there is something for everyone! Popular around the area and including impresario Marc Gallagher the band just loves to play music and entertain.

4:00pm – 6:00pm, Andy Stones

Shakermaker are a Cheshire based, professional covers band / duo or solo acoustic act playing rock, indie and rock n roll music from the 50’s to the present day, in a way that is guaranteed to get any party REALLY pumping.

6:00pm – 6:00pm, The Entertainment

Cathy Roberts & Al Sherwood perform an eclectic conglomeration of classic and contemporary songs . Artists include Fleetwood Mac, Coldplay , Daft Punk, Stereophonics and many more these guys are keeping music live !!!!

6:00pm – 8:00pm, Jim Kirkpatrick

Local guitar hero Jim plays solo. With an ever unfolding and illustrious career in music Jim has played stages across the world at some of the largest festivals. One of the best Blues Rock players out there expect a real Food Festival treat.

10:00am – 11:00am, Rivers & Kidd

Martin Rivers and Jaqi Kidd go back a long long way and, after Jaqi’s contribution to Martin’s Different Skies album, they now collaborate on this unique take on some well known and popular songs mixed in with some subtly clever original material.

10:00am – 11:00am, Marc Gallagher

Probably the hardest working Uke player we know local, strumming supremo Marc performs his solo set. With many festival appearances, burgeoning gig calendar and recent CD release we are pleased to see him!

11:00am – 1:00pm, Hayley Strangelove

Acoustic singer/songwriter, performer of parodies, warbler of covers, writer of deep stuff, creator of balderdash, causer of chaos, joiner-inner of shenanigans and a bit of a character – in a good way!

11:00am – 1:00pm, Callum Joseph Wright

This has been a whirlwind year for Nantwich based singer songwriter Callum. Receiving rave reviews and support from the professional music industry he is described as having endless amounts of original talent. We look forward to him performing his solo set.

1:00pm – 3:00pm, Rain

This local acoustic duo began after a chat over a nice cup of tea. Both members at the time were in other bands and decided to take their music into a laid back yet engaging set of covers and original material. So they did – enjoy !

1:00pm – 3:00pm, Poyzer & Fluff

Regulars at festivals across the UK, two outstanding musicians deliver a rousing set of original and classic songs, weaving percussive acoustic guitar and vibrant folky fiddle with passionate voices and friendly banter. “memorable … rabble rousing … excellent” – Acoustic Magazine

3:00pm – 5:00pm, Imaner

A duo all the way from Worcestershire and oft’ requested favourites at The jazz & Blues Festival, Debbie & Dave are set to entertain with a fabulous set of covers. Now with added audience participation.

3:00pm – 5:00pm, Rick Whitehead

Supremely talented solo blues vocal / guitarist Rick Whitehead is just perfect for an afternoon at a Food Festival. Well known on the Blues circuit with support slots for Rebecca Downes and many more. We welcome him to Nantwich

5:00pm – 7:00pm, Chuck Harriet

Jazz swing with style, energy and flair. Happy arrangements and exquisite musicianship to fabulously entertain you and make you smile. From Gershwin to Caro Emerald with a few scenic detours along the way.

5:00pm – 7:00pm, Baxter

Like half of ABBA except they’re not Swedish, or like ABBA. Powerful, straight to the point vocals, dry wit and powerful guitar deliver covers in a way only Baxter can. Paul & Hayley are legends on the local scene and rightly so.

11:00am – 1:00pm, Olly Flavell

What a find ! Olly Flavell is an innovative singer songwriter whose originality captivates with ease. With wisdom beyond his years and a youthful flair, carefully crafted material naturally flows from this talented 20-year-old.

1:00pm – 3:00pm, Lucy Lockwood Trio

A vibrant and exuberant Jazz and Blues vocalist who appears at The Festival with her accomplished trio. Working proudly with Standards, Traditional Jazz and the American Songbook, Lucy has a special focus on scat vocal improvisation which is just sooo perfect for our Sunday afternoon.

1:00pm – 3:00pm, Badeno et Tchavolo

These two gypsy jazz guitar experts unite to bring a taste of 1930’s Parisian swing to Nantwich. ‘Badeno’ Hollingworth, is a veteran of the Samois sur Seine Django Reinhardt festival. Guitarist and vocalist ‘Tchavolo’ Cris Tolley has won awards, including many performances at the International Gypsy Guitar Festival. Expect plenty of hot swing, smooth vocals and blistering guitar playing.

3:00pm – 5:00pm, Shakermaker Duo

Ben Maitland and Mike Gregson are Shakermaker in duo form ! Popular indie and pop covers rendered in a most becoming manner make a fabulous ending to our Food Festival musical programme.

3:00pm – 5:00pm, Charmaine Baines & Friends

Performing an eclectic selection of Neo-Soul, Soulful Jazz and Blues from Charmaine and her band, with Wayne Scott on drums and Aidan Goldstraw on piano and Keys. Charmaine has collaborated with the best in the business including Robbie Williams. She has recently returned from her debut appearance at The Zoo Jazz Club in Athens, Greece, promoting her original set of Latin, Reggae and Neo-Soul.
